And I said: “I pray, Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments - Nehemiah 1:5
It is amazing how faithful God is. He is great and awesome, infinitely huge and powerful in his perfection. And all that he wants from us is our love and for us to observe His commandments. Jesus told us what those commandments were; to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. That is a double portion of loving God!
The more that I have grown in loving God the better I have been able to love others and myself. Through His faithfulness He has shown me that no matter how imperfect I am he will always approach me with love and mercy. Sometimes his love and mercy won't feel all that loving and merciful but at the end of the day when we look back on our lives we will see the truth and bask in a full appreciation of His love. And when we know that we are loved it becomes so much easier to love ourselves and others.
God we thank you for your steadfast and faithful love. We thank you that you don't require us to be perfect. You just ask that we have faith in you and love you with all of our hearts through your son Jesus. We thank you that your love is an invitation and not a demand and we humbly accept the love that you have for us. Please help us to see clearly the love that you rain down into our lives every single day.
