The Long Game

Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead; they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed. And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever. (Psalm 106:28-31 ESV)

Some ask in sadness why Jesus hasn't come back. Why has it taken so long?

I used to ask the same thing but then I had a thought. What if the delay is an act of love? What if He is constantly waiting for us to have every last opportunity to know Him? What if his delay is the answer of countless prayers by believers that their loved ones would be saved?

What I once saw as a reason to doubt I now see as another proof of how huge God's love is for us, that He would allow this world full of pain to continue so that even the least of us would have an opportunity to know Him.

After all, our time in this world is but a passing moment compared to the eternity to come.

Let us be the Phineases and the Moseses of this time who stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters. Let's pray so that all may have the opportunity to learn to talk to God, to know Him and His love.
